As you can see @ 3:54 the wheel was still a polygonal/geometric form.

@ Tanynep, She or He had didn't have it at highest curvature detail, so it was possible to pull. You can lower the detail on curved edges. Lets say you made a ball, right click on it and select Soften/Smoothen edges. Drag the bar at ANYTHING lower than HIGHEST detail. Such wonderful software I must say, I hope that helped you :)
